It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that Abiok Publicity Limited announces the passing of our esteemed co-founder, father, and a true icon of the Nigerian advertising industry, Alhaji Jimoh Atanda Lawal. He passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, integrity, and visionary leadership.
Following his passing, he was laid to rest on February 17, 2026, in accordance with Islamic rites. A final burial ceremony to celebrate his remarkable life and achievements took place in Lagos on March 28, 2026, attended by family, friends, and industry leaders.
A Pioneering Visionary
Born in 1943, Alhaji Jimoh Lawal—alongside the late Alhaji Kehinde Olasode—established Abiok Publicity Limited in 1976. Together, these two amiable gentlemen grew the business into a full-fledged, award-winning marketing communications powerhouse. Alhaji Lawal's foresight was instrumental in transforming the Out-Of-Home (OOH) advertising landscape in Nigeria. His proactive approach and dedication to technological integration set the standard for modern outdoor advertising.
A Community Leader
Beyond his corporate success, Alhaji Lawal was a revered elder statesman and community leader. He held the esteemed title of the Aare Mayegun of Gbagura Land, Abeokuta, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to service, peace, and the continued development of his community.
As we mourn his departure, we also celebrate a life well-lived. Alhaji Jimoh Lawal's values, discipline, and vision remain deeply ingrained in the DNA of Abiok Publicity Limited. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire generations of advertising professionals to come.
